Celebrating Impact (1)- Bernardine Evaristo
Introduction With Black British success stories being rather sparse, most of the celebrated Black Britons tend to be famous ones who have advanced in their own field through their hard work and overcoming obstacles. Often they attract attention mainly for being famous. However, this new Black History Month tribute aims to highlight people, of any colour or creed, who have made a genuine difference to the Black community with their actions in significant ways. Mary Seacole, the pioneering nurse from Jamaica who stamped her presence on the Crimean War, is the epitome of what this tribute is about. Her impressive and empowering statue outside St Thomas' Hospital (by Martin Jennings) forms part of the logo, to ensure she is always seen.

Is 'Laziness' A False Notion?
In other words, are there really lazy individuals about? Many people tend to label others who do not conform to their expectations, as ‘lazy’. Yet that in itself is a lazy form of labelling, or stereotyping, which has little basis in fact. However, as there are some definite mindsets around the concept of laziness, I thought I would add my thoughts on it.

The Curse Of The Musical Legends
Take four famous musical icons whose children have tried to follow in their footsteps: Bob Marley, John Lennon, Frank Sinatra and Nat King Cole - legends in their own time, with Marley still making a great impact in ours. Having followed the progress of their children over the years, it became patently obvious to me that neither of these rich, wealthy and talented ofspring will ever be 'legends' like their fathers, no matter how hard they work and how desperately they wish to make their own name. In fact, they will always be hovering just over the sea of attention while being judged every step by their father's fame. Dad will always be hanging around like a sweet smell to remind them of their position.

Key Ways To Get People To Like Us
Many of us worry about whether others like us or not. This is a natural human desire, as we are social creatures who crave connection, acceptance and belonging.
