Alice K.S.
Bio
I once believed I was a gifted ballerina.
She beseeched me for something to live for,
so I started painting it for her.
Welcome to my wordly world!

Across the frozen pond
Her elbows rested on the table with both palms supporting her head. There she was, silently crying while her teardrops delicately fell on her little dog’s back softly sleeping on her lap. “Why, but why?” She felt sad and confused from knowingly not understanding exactly what she had accepted.

A Cherished Classic. Top Story - July 2021.
The other day, I really couldn’t sleep… and I fell on this bedtime story. I guess it has a special meaning for me, I mean it inspires my imagination to the point that I actually feel it. It’s as if, I am being transported by it in real time.

Fitting in Somehow
It’s like you arrive in a new world and you’re the only one there, no one to hear anything. After taking a deep breath, eyes closed, the thought occurred that one day things will be different. “Oh Gosh! By the time I finish my thought, it will be here already!” Eyes closed not only to dream and to wish, but mostly to savor the preciousness felt all around. This world is beautiful and now it is even prettier, like a million suns shining from everywhere across the universe.

The Concept of Dystopia
Hold on a second. Before we start here today I must say that something absolutely horrible happened. I just walked out from the office, finding out that there are no more reserves left. We might run out of food and perish! If anyone around here happens to hear me and knows how to help out, please do so. It means even more that money.

Double Crime!
I was running away, crying out for help in the middle of the streets, when right in front of me, stood a lady at her porch, replying by simply pushing the door open, so I did, I entered. I’m not even going slightly over board with it, when I say: “It felt like home”. I’m not sure how to say it so I’ll whisper. There were pieces of heaven in there. There were words of grace written on the walls for me. In the entry way, a beige jacket was hanging of the main post of the grand staircase. It was like, time didn’t exist. So after realizing about where I was and of how truly welcoming the atmosphere resonated with me, I thought of how extremely curious it was that she still didn’t ask me what I needed help with? So I, I just said what was happening; that some people wanted to burn me alive so I needed a place of refuge. And the truth is that, in that entire tantrum, I ran so fast, that puppy didn’t even take notice, so I entered alone. And she still didn’t speak a word. The words on the walls spoke out already perfectly. “This place is a safe haven” one held. “Welcome to your new home” said another. To be honest, I wouldn’t want you to think that this whole thing was a setup, so I won’t think on that thought another instant.

It’s Members Only
They religiously practiced every day at the palace. The tall white walls of the studio climbed up as if they were to reach the sky. Really, the palace itself existed already, and love filled the room as the pointed toed ballerinas practiced the rituals, reaching beyond their limits with the world as their stage. From afar, they were recognized by some highlighted traits. Innately born with all the intrinsic features, they had the abilities to do magnificent things. They hone in their craft. And every night they dreamed about it, and every day, crystal clear, they tapped into the pursuit of their success.

The Greatest Mission!
It was the beginning of a new world, when two boats mysteriously floated towards each other. From the furthest point at the horizon, one noticed, in the distance, a small shadow which slowly became a boat. His raised sails blew in the wind, and that’s how I made it out alive. Our body and mind were to start the greatest adventure.

Golden Elixir
Perfection? Sometimes it seems as though this world is too damn perfect! The sky was of a heavy gray and all happened so perfectly, I mean, if the little boy down the street would not have died that morning, then Sandra, his school teacher, would not have met Lorie’s dad at the funeral. It seemed like his coffin was glowing with light by the way the sun stroke the wood. My heart was crushed yet the way the pain pulled my insides assured me how I am filled with life. And the way the birds flew from the forest’s backdrop scene, it seemed like his soul flew out of this realm to reach the unseen. Perfection then must embrace episodes of sourness.

Thrift Shop Treasures
It’s a used one. I mean when I got it, it was already covered up by other people’s fingerprints. At first my attention was drawn to it because of the cover image. I like the four seasons in itself; I find that it is a fully complete process. I especially love how in winter everything freezes. It’s like if Simon in Simon Says called out: “Simon says freeze!” Then I heard the violins playing in my head like if my memory file contained the music sheet. I felt warmth in my heart. My eyes were closed yet allowing for the imagery of the letters to take place like a printed logo on my brain. I read: Vivaldi

Insights on Edits
I took this picture about a year ago. Since it depicts a quite important scene, I thought it deserved a special title. In fact, it can be hung in two opposite directions and has been signed both ways since displays may be alternated. The title on the upside is "The Last Supper", and when inverted the title shall be read as "Ask a Memphis".

Water of Life
I have been on this all my life and again last night, I fell asleep dreaming about its wonderfulness and when I woke up, my skinny arm stretched to reach the glass of water. I am here, naked in the depth of this old apartment as it became quite cold on Atlantic Avenue.
