The Way I Wear My Hat
I sat with my hats today, trying to decide their homes. If you hang your hats on a wall, there’s joy in seeing their style & grace: the fabrics, feathers, buttons & bows! But also - some hats attract so much dust that when you take them off the hook to wear to the Easter Parade, they make you sneeze & cough.

Being a Mom and looking Amazing
Here is the thing: Because I am now a mom, the typical thing that is said in Hispanic families is that it is not appropriate to wear clothes that make you look slutty. Being a mom, it looks weird for me to be wearing matching outfits such as a crop top with shorts, or flare pants with a form-fitted shirt. My sister-in-law would say to me that if I was still single and not a mom, I could dress in outfits that one would normally wear at a club and honestly I didn't like that mindset. I didn’t like feeling like being a mom meant that I don’t deserve to glow.

Ladies Fashion in the Victorian Era
The one thing that always impresses me personally, when looking at a Victorian-styled dress, is the sheer “workmanship” that can be so clearly seen. Every dress was cut, put together and sewn — by hand! These dresses were “High-Fashion” and very similar to our Haute Couture today. The skill of the embroiderers who attached their piece of work to the dress is comparable to the dresses the rich women wore in the Tudor Era. It is no wonder that these dresses were so expensive, when we think about the time involved to ‘create’ them and the sheer skill — it is no wonder that only the very rich could actually afford these dresses.

How I Made the Midsommar Dress
For Halloween, I love to go ALL OUT. This costume was no exception. I wanted to make the Midsommar May Queen dress from the moment I saw Ari Aster's film in all of it's psychedelic, horrific glory. I'm no stranger to making costumes and playing dress-up, but I knew this would be a serious undertaking. Most of my costume skills involve hot glue, and seeing as I sewed through my finger in Home Ec class during high school, I had to call on my mom for help to get started.

The Scariest Thing of all - Going Bald
Never mind the sleepless nights, worrying about the needle pricks to come. Forget about the seemingly endless nausea and the pills meant for schizophrenics repurposed for vomit prevention. Ignore the fatigue, appetite loss and weight gain. What's the worst thing that happens to a girlie-girl on chemo? It's simple. Going bald. Losing one's hair, eyelashes, eyebrows and sometimes even nails is most definitely a nightmare.
