Music Therapy
I first encountered music therapy during a 28 day rehab stint. It was helpful for so many reasons. First, you realize that your feelings are more common than you think. No matter what emotional turmoil you have been through, or any trauma you may have endured, someone has written a song about it. Second, it gets you out of your head. In sobriety, you can get trapped inside your head, and recovery is about letting those feelings out. Music helps you do that. Third, in writing music, I can tell the paper things that I can't tell the people in my life. Sometimes, I hide behind my music, until I'm ready to discuss things in person.

Bob was Right!
He had been thinking long and hard about his retirement plan. His life just isn't working for him anymore. He wasn't much to look, but he a very kind man. In fact, so kind that he and the battle-axe he calls his women didn't get along much. Every day while making breafkast he says his mantra:

The Power of Optimism
As a life coach and addictions advisor, I teach people how to manifest their dreams. It's easier than it seems as just two years ago I was on the verge on homelessness, and I now live in an affluent suburb with a book that is about to be published. My clients tell me that people gravitate toward me because of my optimism. I also provide hope during these dystopian times. These two attitudes have allowed me to go far in life.

The Likability Penalty
Simply put, the “likeability penalty” asserts that women face social penalties for acting in the very way that leads to power and success. I've often been told that I am intimidating to men. I don't think if I were male, anyone would accuse me of this "crime." I'm well-read, out-spoken, and a very learned woman. These are all traits that we hope to see in a male partner but don't like to see them in women. Basically, I'm an unlikable female because I exhibit male qualities - and frankly, I don't give a damn.

Infidelity Destroys Your Past, Present, and Future
I remember when I realized that my ex-husband had found another woman. All of a sudden numerous suspicious memories from the past were made clear, all of my hopes and dreams of retiring with him disappeared and in the present I was worried about where I would live in a few short weeks. In short, my past, present, and future were in all in jeopardy.

Where Has all the Great Art Gone?
When you think about where all the great art in this world and where has it gone, I'm here to tell you that between the AIDS crisis, the drug and alcohol epidemic, and the mental health crisis in America, the ART hasn't left. It's trapped in prisons, psych wards, and at your local bar or traphouse. I speak from experience. Before I became a full-time artist, I was a full-time drunk who was lost in the criminal justice system, psych wards, and the local bar and traphouse. It seems that creative genius comes with an IQ and EQ that needs to be heavily medicated.

Rich People are not Better Than You
People have always accused me of sourrounding myself with people than are "beneath" me. I don't see anyone beneath me is what they don't understand. First, there is no caste system in America. Rich people are not better than you. Please understand that if you think differently, that is the result of capitalism. Your productivity does not determine your worth. The biggest scam played on the American public is that working harder will get you somewhere in life. It almost never does. Rich people have connections to make their dreams work. That's truly the only difference between you and them.

Alien DNA - is the Truth Stranger than Fiction?
Bob decides to go the library, where he can ruminate in peace. He saw on the news that scientists now think we might have DNA. That some humans have origins from beyond this planet. Bob has suspected this for years, but has been too bogged down by the minutae of daily life to explore anything including his own mind. Bills, kids, and taxes take up most of his waking thoughts, and there is nothing left for Bob at the end of the day.

The Mall of Sin
Bob is sitting at the Mall of Sin as he calls it. He is watching the TV. They are talking about the space race. Life has so much to offer but here he sits at the Mall of Sin. Why does he call it that? Well, it's hedonism at its finest. People going broke for material possessions that could be destroyed in a fire tomorrow. At this mall, there is a place to get lap dances, liquor, and Gucci purses. All these people living in the moment, without a care about tomorrow, not even realizing the end is near. Now Bob feels overwhelmed. He takes a big sigh and thinks to himself:

Have You Been Unable to Level Up?
I first learned about Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs at the University of Akron as an undergrad. I didn't realize how supremely important this concept was until after I retired from education. Had I internalized it, i could've affected some real change at the school.

Dating in the 2020's
Dating. The pasttime that we love to hate. It is stressful, confusing, and expensive. I'm not even sure why we do it. I'm currently single and not looking and I've never been happier in my life. Take that into consideration when reading this.
