Personality versus Outward Appearances
Some of you may be wondering why I chose to use an artistic depiction of a tire swing to coincide with an article that is on the topic of human superficiality. I think I'll explain it like a parable. The tire swing is not your typical swing found at most parks. There have been many man-made swings, but the standard swing is not meant to spin and is designed in most cases for one person to sit on. The tire swing is unique because not only is it an upcycle (saving the planet from tires dumped at the bottom of the ocean or rivers) it also can carry two children, swing back and forth, and spin for delirious enjoyment. I think of the tire swing the way I think of how people can sometimes get bent out of shape regarding how people look. Some care nothing about it, while others care too much about it. Most lack a good balance. When someone isn't by standard definition of "attractive" or "beautiful" they are often described as having a great personality, to soften the judgements of those who have not met the person before and introduce them as desirable regardless. Let's say a standard swing is the normal definition of "attractive" or "beautiful", and the tire swing has a great personality. Now you understand the connection.

Does a Quote ever hit you the wrong way?
The Quote read: You are keeping yourself from the life you want by feeding the life you don't want. While it seems simple or obvious, this quote disturbed me as I applied it to myself, my life, and my truest desires.

Car Obsession and the Expenses of Transportation
Have you heard of a business called AutoNation? It's a car dealership and more, and I think their name is absolutely genius. AutoNation. Yeah. That is so accurate. People who know me personally know that I've been a licensed driver since 1987. I personally have owned over 10 used cars in my name over the years. I've had American cars and foreign cars. I've seen all kinds of mechanics and paid for all kinds of repairs. I've been a member of AAA and AARP and I discovered that AAA is better for a used car driver. As a driver, I've had some traffic violation tickets in 37 years of driving, paid them and/or went to driving school to be reminded about safe and defensive driving. Over that 37 year period, I have probably spent in car payments, car insurance payments, gasoline costs, and repair costs, enough to have afforded me a brand new car in the range of 50k. I like that new Ford Bronco... the price tag says it's only 30k. Ha ha ha.

I think I may have to vote
I wasn't upset when they told me that I couldn't vote anymore. I didn't want to go through the red tape to reinstate my voting privilege. I figured there's no way to ever vote for the right person, and I don't trust the voting system anyway. I've had my opinions about my country, the structure, principles, constitution, legislation, and history. I've been watching things change since the Reagan administration. I could recap all the follies of every Presidency I've endured since 1971. But I won't waste your time with my skewed historical summary. Instead, I will just say that of the three "taboos" (sex, religion, and politics) Americans seem quite satisfied taking on religion and politics, but they are still the most hush hush and hypocritical when it comes to sex.

Reversal of Expectations
The cottage was quaint and cozy, warm with a thriving fire in the fireplace. It was cold outside, snow had fallen and had stayed on the ground like a clean white blanket. Myra sat in her mother's rocking chair near the window ccasionally glancing up from her knitting to look outside when she heard the wind howling. Her mother sat across from her on the other side of the room on an expensive loveseat that her father had given as a Christmas gift. They both kept their eyes and ears on the fire, each one taking a turn and putting another log in to keep the fire going whenever it seemed to be fading out.

Good, Better, Best Websites and Apps
I don't like calling myself an internet junkie. I can unplug when I should and I do. I hang out at the park or go swimming when I can and I don't let the internet block me from enjoying the finer things in life or interfere with the basics of life like cooking, cleaning, etcetera. However, I do spend a lot of time online whether it's on my desktop, laptop, or tablet. I like using websites, apps, and I like playing video games that are free. Since I've been online for such a long time (since AOL was number one and dial up was the only way on) I have a lot of opinions about which sites and apps are more user-friendly and helpful. This review is based on those two requirements. If I say a site or an app is not the best, it's because I've experienced technical difficulties with it or some other problem while I was trying to utilize it. If I say it's the "best" that means I've experienced the most benefits with the least amount of headaches. Even a website or an app can become a "classic" if it can stand the test of time; And that occurs after new competitors come up and show themselves to be less beneficial.

Are you as confused as me?
Everyone who knows me knows that I am a big fan of the HBO show Game of Thrones. I thought George R.R. Martin was a genius, and I thought the team that brought us the show was simply brilliant. I refer to that show very often as I got to know all of the main characters very well glued to each episode and rewatching it on DVD multiple times.

Downtown Clearwater Library is a controversy
I've resided in Clearwater since 2010. I've worked at many places that no longer exist here like the Steak n Shake on U.S. 19 and the little telemarketing office that once employed me near Ulmerton and 66th. I've also worked for places that still do exist like Postcardmania and Clearwater Marine Aquarium. Gandy Beach (the way it was) is gone, transformed into a mangrove preserve. Our Pinellas County public libraries are either improving or vanishing. The Clearwater officials (regarding the downtown library) decided to go with improvements, but the million dollar ampitheater project came with much controversy including the resignation of a mayor.

How many degrees does it take?
When I was a little girl in grade school, I was in awe about education. I wanted with all my heart to make my mother proud and to please my teachers. I wanted to be "Teacher's Pet" although for the most part I was just one of the mediocres. I admired those students who made "smarts" and schoolwork look easy. It was never easy for me. I had to work hard.

An interview with the Goddess of Love
I interviewed the goddess of love recently and I learned a lot about her thoughts on love and sex. She wanted to be very open and honest about the topics and I appreciated that. She also wanted to explain how she sees others by describing them in the 12 "tribes" of astrological order. I was okay with that as a practiced wiccan who is well-read in astrology.

A Jupiterian writes home about Earth
The Earth and Earthlings or inhabitants have a symbiotic relationship growing together through instinctual progression. Some people define earthy elements as "natural" while defining desired notions and will-powered constructions as "manufactured" also called "man-made products". As the natural and manufactured environments have molded me, I have modified my surroundings accordingly based upon the suburban, city, or country location.

A film from 2002 still well liked
Stephen Speilburg released the film "catch me if you can" in December 2002. With an all star cast (including Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hanks, Christopher Walken, Martin Sheen, Ellen Pompeo, and Jennifer Garner) the movie was born to be an instant classic. While the Rotten Tomatoes score at 96% shows that the movie is well received and liked, one thing I'm not sure about is this nagging question: Can a film from 22 years ago, that wasn't anything like Speilburg's claim to fame (E.T.) have already achieved a permanent place in the league of "Classic" classification? If I must answer the question myself, I'm going to say Yes, this film and others like it from Speilburg or starring DiCaprio, have done that - They became classic, almost instantly. Not because they were filmed in black and white. Not because they followed the same worn out forumula of another classic. And not because the fans are happy to see a bunch of big name stars. This film became a classic because the artists involved all did exactly what they were supposed to do. They were all in the "zone" and took their roles in movie crafting seriously. And when it all comes together like that in perfect harmony, we get a movie that defies age, defies time, and is relevant and enjoyable forever. Classic!
