Grease
Hello, T. I've wanted to say something to you for a long time. It's been fourteen years since you said what you did, and your words still gut me. We're adults, we haven't spoken in years and our lives have gone down different paths. We don't even live in the same state anymore. You probably have no idea, and how could you? These insignificant words you said, how can they have so much meaning? I wanted you to know they did, and they still do. I wanted you to know that I hate you. I've resented you and everything you said you stood for. I abhor the persona you show everyone else. I hate the others too, but not as much as you. Let's talk about why.

You Got Out
Libby, I'm sure you've heard the story a million times, but once more can't hurt. My dad was gone when I was two months old, and I was five when Mom started dating your dad. I remember being six when she told me she was pregnant with you. I was a mixture of elated, nervous, and jealous. Here comes the new baby. The older sibling with no dad will no longer be the center of attention. But it was never like that with you.

Always Watching
Fact 1: I'm terrified of barn owls. My mom is obsessed with them. She has dozens of tiny ceramic owls scattered throughout the house. They're even in the bathroom! My mom says barn owls can spot kids doing what they're not supposed to and they screech when they catch you. They could have the decency to give a quiet hoot but no, they choose to screech your sins to the world. I haven't been brave enough to test this, but I'm hypothesizing that may be a myth. Still, too scared to see.

The Rise and Fall of Silent Hills P.T.
Silent Hills P.T. was introduced at Gamescom 2014 with the developer listed as 7780s Studio. P.T., which stands for Playable Teaser, was meant to be the selling point in the newest game of the horror franchise called Silent Hill. Silent Hills was scheduled to be released in two phases. The first phase was Silent Hills P.T., the playable teaser. The second was the full Silent Hills game. The Gamescom 2014 trailer that I will be analyzing can be found at the following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MnMJ0urMz54 (7780s Studio). The Gamescom 2014 Silent Hills P.T. trailer used psychological horror elements, a new kind of gaming experience, and real reactions of players to drive the success of Silent Hills P.T. by convincing an audience of adult gamers to download the playable teaser. The trailer’s meaning behind the use of a pseudonym for the developers contributed to the discontinuation of the entire Silent Hill franchise.

I just lived the worst ten years of my life
Oversharing is a funny concept. What does it really mean? What constitutes the words one should share or keep to themselves? Is it fear of embarrassment due to inevitably being judged? You’re going to be judged anyway, no matter how much you keep to yourself. Someone, somewhere, will always have an opinion about your life.

Piggy
My room is a wreck. There are clothes, so many piles of clothes. I spend hours every day trying to coordinate the perfect outfit. I hide my stomach with baggy shirts and always wear jeans with a jacket. I’ve always been self-conscious about my size, and the first day of high school was no exception. I knew if I could make it through the day without embarrassing myself too much, I’d be ok. Life just never seemed to be too kind to me.

The Wisdom of Men
I’ve never known the world the way it is in books. What was it like when so few people died that they had celebrations and buried them in the ground? Did they just dig a big hole and shove ‘em in there? As the oldest man alive, I know my turn is coming soon. I’ll be another bag of bones rotting wherever I perish. But at twelve years old, I wish I had as much of a chance as the dead did before my time. As far as I know, it’s just me and my little brother. My mom left a week ago and we haven’t seen her since. She told me the story of the end of organized civilization often, so I’d always be alert to danger.

The Gift of Using Your Voice
My Days I spend most of my days with little to no downtime, but I enjoy every single second of it. I am a mother to an amazing five-year-old. I am married and we also have two cats. I'm currently studying cybersecurity full time and just made the Dean's List. Professionally, I create and present trainings to new Medicaid employees, and it's the most rewarding job I've ever had. Some of my trainees have gone on to work in very high positions and I am incredibly proud of them! One thing that really helps me with my presentation is my voice. I've heard so many times that it's soft and soothing, yet I am not afraid to speak my mind. This may have inflated my ego just slightly, but it was needed. This time last year I suffered with severe depression, anxiety, and was having a hard time in life. I've done all of the following using my voice in some way within the last year:

Like No One Is Watching
“What’s that around your neck?” Dad had come home early. “Dad it’s just-.“ “Just nothin’, boy. Now take that shit off. I’m about to make sure you don’t grow up like one of them men in dresses.” I took off my mother’s locket, her most prized possession, and placed it back in the trunk as gently as possible. It was silver with a ruby heart that was surrounded by tiny diamonds. She looked so beautiful in it. I missed Mom.
