Christmas Festive (Unofficial) Challenge

Imagine that your Christmas tree is up; Frank Sinatra is singing "Winter Wonderland" in the background. The twinkling lights cast a reddish-green glow throughout the room. You're sitting on the couch with a hot cup of cocoa bubbling over with marshmallows. Next, a few is a big bowl of buttery popcorn with an array of chocolate truffles.

The fireplace envelopes you in a warm, cozy feeling. You are wearing fuzzy Christmas socks, and a red Christmas blanket dragged over your lap. The light snowfall is frosting up the windows outside your home.

We have entered the season of giving, and it would be fun to come up with my first unofficial challenge for all the wonderful vocal creators I've read over the past month. And now it's time to ponder the following questions and share your heartwarming festive responses with others.

What you need to do:

1. Answer all the questions

2. Put the challenge name in the subtitle.

3. Please use the pictures for the #6 and #7 I've provided

4. Post to the writer's community

5. When done, post the links here please.

6. The challenge begins December 3rd and ends December 18th.

Now let's have some merry fun!

Here are my answers to these questions.

1. If you could invite any fictional character to your Christmas party, who would it be and why?

Ted Lasso is played by Jason Sudeikis from the Apple TV show Ted Lasso. Ted is a bubbly, upbeat guy who always has something uplifting to add to the conversation. I bet he would show up with the most ridiculous ugly Christmas sweater, and we would always laugh about it.

2. What are your favorite Christmas desserts and why?

I am a cookie girl! I absolutely love chocolate cookies with peppermint sprinklings on them. I have always been a cookie girl! Another favorite of mine is Pecan Spice cookies.

3. What is your favorite top 5 Christmas songs?

"Have Yourself a Merry Christmas"- Judy Garland

"White Christmas"- Bing Crosby

“O Tannenbaum”- A Charlie Brown Christmas

"By Christmas Eve"- John Legend

"Silver Bells" - Andy Williams

4. What is your Christmas decorating style and why? Rustic, Whimsical, Modern, Minimalist, Monochromatic

I am full-on whimsical style with Santa in various poses, looking silly and fun with snowmen on the skies and cardinals wearing Santa hats. Many of my Christmas illustrations are based on some of my Christmas decorations. Colorful, silly with a hint of traditional.

5. What is your favorite Christmas movie, and why?

Mine is different from the traditional one of sorts. It's "The Lion In Winter" with Katherine Hepburn, Anthony Hopkins, and Peter O'Toole- medieval family dysfunction at its best.

6. Write a haiku for this picture.

White flakes dance the night

Magic blankets town in snow

Embrace spirit's glow

7. Write a funny caption for this photo.

"Well another Christmas, another money wasted costume!"

8. What is your favorite Christmas book or child's Christmas story?

I just love train stories that are funny, heartwarming, and have that Christmas magic, such as The Christmas Train by David Baldacci.

9. What is your favorite Christmas quote?

"Christmas works like glue. It keeps us all sticking together." – Rosie Thomas

10. What does Christmas mean to you?

It means a time for being with family and putting away your worries. Take that 24-48 hour span from Christmas Eve to the morning after Christmas day and just have fun. This year will be a different one for my family and me as it will be the first without my Dad. My Mom passed away almost 3 years ago, and my Dad 11 months ago. He was all about Christmas; seeing his exuberance makes it so much fun. It will be a time for us to develop new traditions, and we look forward to that.
