Happy as Larry! ... Angie's Antics
Larry sure took us by surprise! Something went seriously wrong with our tried and tested Cyclone Alert System! Dad — our Weatherman — dropped the ball! It was his job to ring us up and alert us of the next tropical cyclone heading our way in Far North Queensland. We rarely bothered watching television and neglected tuning in to the News on the radio. Internet was slow, expensive and patchy at best. We lived our lives under a rock — as far as current affairs were concerned. Delightful days…except when a cyclone loomed without adequate warning or preparation time.

Safe… secure… serene
Monday: 11:58 pm… Wonderfully weightless — I find myself wafting on the airwaves — slowly sinking lower — ever closer to the ground. I’m a feather, floating freely — to and fro — until I’m almost brushing the treetops. A few gentle sculling strokes of my arms, effortlessly propel me swiftly skywards. In moments, my supine body is once again above the slumbering world below… a balmy breeze caresses my upturned face. The dazzling diamonds of The Southern Cross constellation reassuringly smile down at me.

Angie’s Artifacts IV
This time I travelled far and wide to various Vocal archaeological sites…Hawaii was my first sun drenched stop! It was actually more akin to wandering through a gold field… this nugget was just lying by a creek bed. D.K. Shepard’s carefree holiday poem, Island Time, stirred a nostalgic streak in me… Hawaii, here I come! Wishing! 🥹 Her mother’s gorgeous photographs perfectly complemented the poem’s delightful rhythm and rhyme.

Angie’s Artefacts: III
Breaking news at the archaeological dig! A fascinating fossil appeared a few brief days ago! Dinosaur bones! Joe Patterson’s rappin’ slammin’ poem Jurassic Prison has me actually enjoying dinosaurs… a surprising, new experience in my longish life. No, I wasn’t wandering around with the dinosaurs! I narrowly missed them, for which I’m eternally grateful.

The trip we almost skipped…
Nothing could keep two little Aussie girls from venturing off around world! Oh bliss! What a prospect! Three months to celebrate surviving three gruelling years, riding the shift work roller coaster of hospital-based nursing training!

Mum’s Memorable Meals
Yay! Ginger Mutts! my famished family cheer... Nana’s trusty Ginger Nut recipe with an accidental twist (SR flour instead of Plain). Swooping like ravenous ravens towards the laden, oven tray, we liberate crazily, shaped biscuits from it. Mmm! Crispy crust encases their soft, spicy centres.
