Storm Shadow Missiles.

Deadly British Missiles Can Be Used.

British Deadly Storm Shadow Missiles.

Sir Keir Starmer has called for an increase in defence spending. Sir Keir Starmer has permitted Ukraine to use the deadly British 'Storm Shadow' missile on Russia. This is a break from the former Tory administration which was more cautious.

Sir Keir met Vlodomyr Zelenskyy and gave the Ukrainian President permission to go ahead and use the missile. As mentioned, this decision by the new Prime Minister is a dramatic and hawkish development. Sir Keir announced this at a NATO summit meeting in Washington DC. As mentioned, Ukrainian President Vlodomyr Zelenskyy was also present. This permission will give the Ukrainian President hope now that he can use the missile on Russia.

Zelenskyy was up against it, as Allies in the West, dithered on whether to send weapons to Zelenskyy. The US was in a quandary about whether to further send weapons to Ukraine. However, a package of aid was agreed. The United States has continued sending munitions to the Ukrainian war effort. Other NATO Allies have followed suit, including the UK.

The body language between previous British Prime Ministers like Johnson and Sunak was always warm with Zelenskyy. One wonders if hugs are just for the cameras or if they are a genuine show of friendship and camaraderie. Whatever the truth, British leaders, will continue to back Ukraine. As Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer will be like his predecessors.

The Ukraine has been suffering setbacks against Russia. Around the city of Kharkiv in Ukraine, Russian forces were making gains. Missile attacks on Kyiv have been some of the most devastating since the war began. Death and destruction were wrought on the Ukrainian capital. So it was in fear that Zelenskyy went to Washington DC. Hoping someone like Sir Keir Starmer would permit him to hit back with the storm shadow missile.

John Healey Labour's new Defence Secretary said "Britain will do all it can to help Ukraine in their bid to repel Putin's invasion". Of course, the Russians aren't exactly going to be jumping for joy over this. Dimitry Peskov, Putin's Spokesman said: "If this is so, then, of course, this is absolutely an irresponsible step towards escalating tensions. "We will be watching this very thoroughly and respond accordingly".

Some have questioned Sir Keir's admission of spending more money on our defence. Spending more money on defence instead of spending on the NHS, and other services cut by the Tories. At the same time, however, we must be able to defend ourselves but will other nations pay their share? Not only on their armed forces but into NATO?

If Trump gets in he is demanding NATO members to pay more. Would it be beyond impossibility of Trump taking the US out of NATO if other nations don't pay their way? Given the maverick ex-and maybe future President's penchant for doing such things, it would not surprise me. Is that why Sir Keir is talking about spending more on defence both at home and in NATO?

The war between Ukraine and Russia has been going on since the Russians invaded in 2021. The war has gone in favour of Russia and then Ukraine As the war has gone on both Russia and Ukraine have become increasingly desperate for weapons supply.

Russia has turned to Iran, China, and North Korea. Likewise, Ukraine has been backed by the US and other nations like the UK. President Zelenskyy himself is known as a democrat. However, his time in office has passed so should he be calling for new elections?

Perhaps, like Churchill, in time of war general elections are postponed. So an alleged democrat is given exceptional powers during a time of war. Maybe, this is the case with Zelnskyy which turns a leader into a dictator.
