To my 9 year old self: your childhood hobby is now your career
Picture this, my Asian dad who wanted his first born to be a doctor reluctantly handing over my first sewing machine. In that moment, he probably realized that the doctor dream should be passed on to my little sister because there was no denying my love for fashion design.

My Guilty Pleasure
Everyone was a child before they were a grown up. We all played toys and stuff made from our imagination. Paper into airplanes, imagined brooms as horses and even castles made from chairs and blankets . It made our childhood fun and exciting. We were creative. For some, that creativity had stopped and evolved into a more mature point of view, but for others, that creativity remained and was honed into a more advanced skill.

My Creative Refuge
Since I was a kid, I wanted to be a fashion designer. My Mom always says I had my own mind about clothes even before I could speak. When I was a toddler, my Mom and I were passing by a clothing shop and I kept reaching towards the window at this peach velour outfit. She took me into the shop and I was almost possessed by this outfit. She tried to get me to like the navy version instead but I was sure I wanted the peach. Throughout my childhood and teenage years I dreamed of becoming a fashion designer in a big city and having my own brand. After years of dreaming, I ended up getting into Parsons in New York City to study Fashion Design. I was enamoured with the fashion world and New York. While I was there I did countless internships for brands and magazines, school was fun and creative but by the end of my four years I felt a little bit burned out. I decided to move to London to try something new.

Cottagecore: Reviving that Sweet 70s Nostalgia. Third Place in Sweet Nostalgia Challenge.
Dressing for Happiness If the pandemic has taught me anything about fashion, it’s that we’re constantly chasing that sweet nostalgia of old trends. This past year, I’ve definitely noticed a whirlwind of fads reammerge into mainstream fashion, ranging from rad 70s tie dye, to adorable 90s butterfly hair-clips. And while the revival of past trends is by no means new, I feel like our current craving for nostalgia has been amplified in our desire to reminisce about simpler, pre-pandemic times. People are at home, they're bored and stressed, and they're experimenting with fashion as a way to embrace nostalgia and have some good, simple fun.

An ode to the baggy clothing of the 90's.
Baggy clothing has been littered through many a decade from the 70's to modern day, but none capitalised on their appeal like the nineties. From TV shows like 'Friends' and 'Buffy the vampire slayer' to bands like 'Sonic Youth' and 'Nirvana', oversized and baggy clothing was everywhere you looked.

Bring Back the Glamour
Downton Abby did more than reawaken my love for tea time. It reminded me of how much I loved the fashions of the 1920’s. We called them the roaring 20’s, but why can’t the new century have its own “roaring 20’s”? We are, after all, we are living the 20’s…..just a century later.

Your Brand is Not Inclusive: Stop Using Fat People’s Hope as a Marketing Tactic
MLMs come in waves, and the most recent craze is ZYIA, a trendy, spendy athleisure brand taking Facebook by storm. I originally got invited to a ZYIA group by a coworker's family member. I checked it out, and that's the first time I saw the claim that ZYIA has something for "everybody and everyBODY."
