When The Gloves Came Off

When the gloves came off, what did you see? What did your heart hear?

It was when you opened your mouth,

That's when the gloves came off

The leash to your tongue, with no shame was taken off,

And worse than receiving a letter from death himself,

Your unfiltered speech was like the breath of a dragon,

Burning through bone and soul‐

Your paralyzing tone has certainly taken its toll

With your words you redrew love's portrait,

Such imagery is worse than any waking nightmare‐

I not only saw, but heard your true colors,

And its the ugliest rainbow that sprouts from your heart

Overflowing to your mouth, out to attack every other heart

To each, a flaming dart-

Echoing in innocent minds, infinite with time

I can only wonder, what echos in your mind?

What horrible speech have you heard,

That leads you to teach hurt?

What did you hear?

What did you see, when the gloves came off?

A flaming dart is powerful; asking what leads to teaching hurt. Great poem, very pointed, like a dart!

  • "I not only saw, but heard your true colors, And its the ugliest rainbow that sprouts from your heart Overflowing to your mouth, out to attack every other heart" Whoaaaa, those lines! Perfection! Sadly, there are so many people like that
