Unfathomable Family
My worse thoughts
Sitting at a cold brown dining table
Outside the laughter and ideas, as far
as a fever dream, lost in unwanted discussion
of some crafted truth
Held hostage for the crime of mere existence,
emerging from a sunless birth and
forced love, though the lie that is family.
.
However you feel, she's still your mother
Why can't I choose, then, not to bother?
Love them, for you share the same blood
Undeserved, inconditionnal love? How odd
.
Alone at last in a cathedral I built
Away from their manipulation and guilt
I blossom for no one else
than I
.
I hear their pleas of anger and contempt
through the grey walls ;
How dare he do as he pleases
this family is now in pieces
Can he not see,
how selfish he can be?
