The Paintress

A Poem

By Jason APublished 6 years ago 1 min read

Oh, Paintress

She sits in the back of the room

The cute, nerdy girl

Creating new worlds on her easel

And colorful scenes upon the canvas

A bead of sweat above her dark brow

With arms backlit by the lights overhead

Long, black hair flowing down her back

Not a single curl among them

Simple frames accent her youthful face

As she gazes ahead to evaluate her work

The ironic juxtaposition

Of beauty intently viewing beauty

With smudges of paint on her delicate cheeks

She smiles at her project

Never realizing the simple fact

That she is the real masterpiece
