But you don't look autistic!

They always say

as if autism has one face,

one mascot of a spectrum of people.

We are stars in a solar system within

many, each its own complexity.

We aren't your disibility porn,

someone to compare

your bland nuerotypical mind to.

The more normal I act,

standing in your facade,

the less you believe me,

but when I flap my hands?

You turn away.

I am a spectrum of thoughts,

and you're just a bad idea.

April is Autism Awareness Month, please raise and amplify autistic voices. Please support groups that are NOT autism speaks.
