Doesn't Mean We Have to Like Everyone

GOD and Recovery

The big book says somewhere, with health,

youth, brains, and wealth,

we don’t stand much of a chance of recovery.

I made this discovery

when working with others,

and they could relate, those brothers.

I was 24 when I started down this path

I thought for sure I was more likely to deal with God’s wrath

I am thankful I didn’t have the wealth and brains

I contributed nothing helpful to recovery, just my pains

I was 26 when I set it down

It did cause me to frown

for a few years

and yes, there were tears,

until someone pointed out some helpful tips

Living by Good Orderly Direction – values placed on poker chips

Gift Of Desperation – brought me to thinking HP is everywhere and above,

Grow Or Die – and simply just try love.

Love everyone, you don’t have to like everyone.

Stop looking for the one and be the one.

Many things in recovery would blow my mind.

There were many of my kind.

It’s only 12 steps to the penthouse,

with the only condition is that we trust in God and clean house.

Otherwise the fact is that we get jails, institutions and death,

and I have seen way too much of this as alcoholism and addiction brings us way more than bad breath.
