Mom,
Thank you for all the memories
Thank you for the way you raised me into the man I am today
Thank you for all the wise advice
And for always being by my side
When things didn't seem to be going right
You were always there beside me
You're my biggest fan
Always there on the sideline cheering me on
Calling out my name to not give up
Your support for me may have seemed unnoticed
But you are the reason I am who I am today
Thank you for all the memories
For raising me as a kid and always being there playing my games
I don't know who I would be without you
I'm sorry for not saying this enough but thank you for being my mom

A Glaring Omission
I made peace with being cast out by others pretty early in life. As lonely as it may sound, I don’t recall many times during childhood when those actions affected me any longer than a moment or two. Being deemed the weird/gay/weird gay freak by everyone from neighborhood kids to blood relatives allowed me the privilege of sneaking away whenever I pleased to dive deeper into hobbies that molded the proud pop culture geek and writer I am today.
