butterflies fly away

like the ones you gave me

in my stomach

maybe that is why

you never come around

anymore.

i wanted every day

to be like the day

i met you

and spend every moment

on your lap

and kiss your forehead

because god

you are so beautiful.

but you took flight

from my fingertips

and you evade my grasp

and i chase the feeling

of your hands around my neck

with your words and songs

and the tears i taste

on the tip of my tongue.

i wanted to love you

every day

but the kind of love i have

only comes on Sundays

because it consumes you

until there is nothing else left.

i am too much

so i only love you

on the weekends.
