Fragile Fault Lines

you draw the lines

that I fit myself into

I remember a time

you fit into them, too

now these lines

criss and cross like a puzzle missing pieces

how to unwind them

I haven't a clue

*

all these emotions

packed away in the basement

a drop in the ocean

just waves to a storm-front

salty words stinging deep

leading to an explosion

leaving internal wounds

and chalk lines on the pavement

*

lines in the sand

leaving lines on my face

erasing what we had planned

lining my mind with mistakes

underlined and highlighted

for special occasions

surprise and delight

built on fault lines and vibrations

Beautifully penned Kelli. This could incorporate many aspects of our lives, even here on Vocal. Such ins and outs and in-betweens. Kudos on a great poem.

This is true. Human nature is a complex mess that can be difficult to unravel. Well said.
