First paragraph

Fifteen-sixteen years ago. B. A. By the way, I am sitting in Calcutta. I went to many places but did not get a job.

Saraswati Puja day. I have been stuck in the mess for a long time, so I don't really drive away, but the manager of the mess has been disturbed by the mess. Idols are being worshiped in the mess - the fanfare is not bad, I woke up in the morning thinking that everything is closed today, I gave a little hope in one or two places, it will not be of any use to go anywhere else today; Instead, I go around and see Tagore.

Mess's servant Jagannath passed some paper in his hand. I read and saw the letter written by the manager. Good food and drinks have been arranged for the puja in the mess today, I have two months of money left, I should give at least ten rupees to the servant. Otherwise I will have to make arrangements elsewhere to eat from tomorrow.

It is very fair, but I have only two rupees and a few annas. I left the mess without giving any answer. Puja music is playing in different parts of the neighborhood, children are standing at the corner of the street and making noise; Abhay Moira's eatery has a wide variety of new dishes on its plates - sitting across the main road at the gate of the college hostel. People are returning from the market in droves buying flower garlands and puja materials.

I thought where to go. Today it is over a year since I quit my school job—or rather, I have not been able to find a job, there is no merchant appis, no school, no newspaper app, no big people's house—where I have walked at least ten times, but everyone has one. Talk, the job is not vacant

Suddenly met Satish on the way. I used to stay together with Satish in Hindu hostel. Currently, he is a lawyer in Alipur, it doesn't seem that anything special is happening, where there is a tuition on the other side of Ballyganj, that is currently working as a raft for him in Samsarsamud. My raft is far away, there is not a single mast-broken wood, I am eating as far as I can eat - seeing Satish I forgot about that for now. I forgot another reason, Satish said - where are you going Satyacharan? Let's see Tagore of Hindu Hostel -

Our old place. And there will be a big jalsa - come. Remember that Avinash from Ward Six, the son of a zamindar in Mymensingh, who is a big singer these days. He would sing, gave me a card again—whether I would occasionally do a job or two on their estate. Come, he will be happy to see you.

When I was in college, five or six years ago today, I didn't want anything else if I had fun - I saw that feeling still intact. I went to see Tagore at the Hindu Hostel and was invited to lunch there. Because many famous boys of our country live here, they didn't want to come at all. I said - there will be a Jalsa in the afternoon, what is it now! I will eat from the mess now.

They did not heed his words

I had to fast on the day of Saraswati Puja. After such a stern letter from the manager, I could not go and feast on luchi pies at Gia Mess—without paying a dime. It happened - I ate the invitation with a full stomach and went to Jalsar Asar in the evening and sat. The joy of the student life of three years ago came back again - who remembers whether I got a job or not, whether the manager of the mess is sitting with a frown or not. Drowning in the sea of thungri and kirtan, I forgot that if I could not settle the debt, there would be an arrangement from tomorrow morning. It was eleven o'clock at night when the Jalsa broke up. Talking to Avinash was a breeze, he and I were members of the debating club while staying at the Hindu Hostel - once we made Sir Gurudas Banerjee the president. The point was, compulsory religious education should be introduced in schools and colleges. Avinash Proposer I am the hero of the opposition side. After heated arguments on both sides, the president gave his opinion in our favor. Since then, Abinash has become close friends - although this is the first time he has met him since leaving college.

Avinash says—come on, I have a car—let me deliver you. where do you stay He went down to the door of the mess and said - Listen, tomorrow at my house in Harrington Street at four o'clock in the afternoon. Don't forget Two of thirty three. Write it down in the notebook.

The next day, I went out to Harrington Street, and also went out to a friend's house. The house is not very big, but there is a garden in front and back. Wisteria creeper at the gate, Nepali porter, and brass plate. Curved road of Lal Surki - green grass forest on one side of the road, big clumps of champa and mango trees on the other side. A large motor vehicle in the carport. Big man's house
