*

He was stirring. Ella knew that they had to move quickly. What was going on? She tried to process what had just happened. She had never felt strength like that. The power that coursed through her was mighty. She was still feeling giddy with it.

And this connection with Jason? She still couldn't see him but he was very much with her. They had to get out of here. But go where?

"I think right now we just need to leave," Jason said, noticing that He was opening his eyes. "We can dissect the fuck out of it later."

Ella was startled. He could read her thoughts?

"Yes, I can read your thoughts! I thought we'd established that already. Catwoman, we need to act! Do you think we can just go out that door and get out of here?"

Ella thought not. But...she'd never had this power before. Maybe it was time to see what it could do.

*

Ella was still there. He didn't know what had happened but He was not going to let her get away. He thought back. Something had gone wrong with the Disruption. The man? The "new" Perceptive. It had to be that. He needed to get up and moving.

*

Ella tried the door handle. Locked. She couldn't see a way to unlock. No keypad. Nothing to turn.

*

His nose was throbbing, but His anger fuelled Him. He was not used to experiencing pain. He'd rather inflict it. For a moment, He centred on the sensation, the pulsating that dominated His face and realised that He had caused this in others. A smile started on his lips, cruel and menacing.

He rose to His feet and saw Ella trying the door.

*

"He's up, Catwoman! We need to move!" Jason yelled.

Ella felt a dart of fear.

"I'm going to touch you, okay? I know it sounds weird but I think that touching you gives you...power, whatever the fuck that means," Jason said.

Ella nodded and waited.

*

Malcolm jumped as the door opened with force.

A young woman, wild-eyed, burst in.

"What's wrong, Anna?" he said.

Anna gulped.

"I don't know," she blurted, "but something's happened!"

So, we get to see Malcolm and his daughter who is named Anna (although I wanted to call her Meg but knew how that would add to the confusion!). Will Ella and Jason make it out? What will He do? How's The Master getting on?

Next instalment soon!
