Pentatonix

Pentatonix (abbreviated PTX) is an American a cappella group which hails from from Arlington, Texas. The members of are vocalists Scott Hoying (baritone), Kristin Maldonado, (mezzo-soprano), Mitch Grassi (tenor), Matt Sallee(bass), and Kevin Olusola (vocal percussion). The group is characterized by their pop-style arrangements that include vocal harmonies, percussion, riffing, basslines, and beatboxing. That’s pretty impressive. Pentatonix was formed in 2011 and produces cover versions of modern pop music and also Christmas songs. They at times include medleys, along with the original material.

If you listen to the Christmas radio stations you will have noticed that they often play the same tracts in the identical rotation that they have for decades. I remember my grandma listening to a cable radio station during the holidays around 2000 or 2001. She continued until she passed away in 2010. Last year I listened in and they were playing the same songs with only a few additions. The same is true for the FM radio channels. If you desire something different to listen to this holiday season I suggest giving Pentatonix a listen snd you might be pleasantly surprised.

The a Capella singers won the third season of NBC's The Sing-Off, and received $200,000 along with a recording contract with Sony Music. Sony's Epic Records later dropped the group and this is when they formed an iYoutube channel, and began distributing their music through Madison Gate Records, a label which incidentally is owned by Sony Pictures. Their decision paid off as the groups YouTube channel currently has over 18 million subscribers and 4 billion views. As of August 27th, 2020 The Pentatonix video tribute to Daft Punk had received more than 334 million views.

The group’s rendition of The 12 days of Christmas is a particularly seeet treat. It’s done in a way that reminds you of the days when Christmas carrollers went door to door singing in the snow. The name Pentatonix no doubt comes from the pentatonic musical scale with five notes per octave. Penta denotes 5 such as the Pentagon with 5 sides and a pentagram with 5 stars. a Capella Christmas music is not new but the Pentatonix sound is definitely an original musical wonder for the holidays. Their renditions of classic holiday songs should warm the heat and remove thoughts of COVID jay least for a little while.

The methods used by the group to produce their music and their blended harmony creates the perfect illusion. At times your ears believe you are listening to singers accompanied by musicians. If you enjoy the age old traditional carrols of the season then the sounds of Pentatonix will bring them to you in a new and most delightful way.The group Pentatonix, has released seven studio albums, and have over six million dollars in sales. They also have won three Grammy Awards, for their work. Let’s take a look at the 5 individuals who make up this talented musical arrangement.

In 2011, Kristen Maldonado was contacted by her high school friend Scott Hoying who shared with her his desire to put together a group for the NBC a cappella competition The Sing-Off. Maldonado agreed and joined the group, which also included another high school friend, Mitch Grassi. Along with Kevin Olusola and Avi Kaplan, Pentatonix was born. In 2017, shortly before the group went on tour, Kaplan announced that he was leaving and was replaced by Matt Sallee who is featured on Deck the Halls.

In addition to the holiday music they have already recorded Pentatonix has recorded their rendition of My Favorite Things, from the movie The Sound of Music. This song does not specifically mention the December holiday but for decades it has been a part of the Christmas line up on a number of radio and cable stations. The Pantstonic rendition will be available in 30 hours from the time of this article and will give their fans something special to look forward too. My Fsvorite Things premieres in December 17 at 3:00 PM so remember to click on the link.

There was a day and time when a recording was released of your favorite artists Christmas music you had to go to a store and pick it up. Today with digital technology all you have to do is click on a link. Have yourself a Pentatonix Christmas and a Hapoy New Year.
