Dear Mom: Too Mature
Dear Mom, You once said you thought you should have held me back in school. Age-wise, I was a full year younger than my classmates - which I assume is what your concern was. It certainly couldn't have been my maturity. I was more mature than most of my classmates - more mature than I should have been at such a young age.

I Just Wish They Understood
There are a lot of hard things in life. One of those things is being poor. Living paycheck to paycheck but not really, because you know you're going to overdraw your account 3 or 4 days before payday. So, living paycheck to paycheck but just barely.

I Don't Love Lucy
Unpopular opinion alert: I am not a fan of Lucy Calkins and her curriculum. For those of you who don't know, Lucy Calkins is an "influential literacy expert" who developed a reading and writing curriculum that has become the third most widely used core program in the United States. This program's approach to reading relied on the theory that "people use meaning and sentence structure to predict the words they read" despite the fact that decades of cognitive science show that reading relies on decoding skills and the ability to match sounds to letters.
