Nature's Alchemy
The Earth is the stone, And nature, the alchemist, Turning something new. ๐๐๐ This poem was originally written as part of this year's Storytelling Collective April Daily Poem challenge. This year's theme used titles from Taylor Swift's album The Tortured Poets Department as the prompt. This one was inspired by the title "the alchemy".

The Tome. Top Story - June 2024.
I wrote this story as part of my ko-fi based writing group's prompt for April 2024. It's inspired by a D&D party of mine, with Skylar being my own character from that game. Prompt: Everyone else is positive that the dusty, ancient tome you found on your last expedition is a long-lost spellbook, with the grimoire containing magics long thought lost to this world. You, however, are pretty sure it's just a cookbook. I also used this prompt as the basis for my Storytelling Collective Comics Challenge this year, so I'll share the comic at the end of this.

Faedaze. Top Story - April 2024.
Daisy leaned back against the wall of the window bench, the dress she was embroidering on falling to her lap, all but forgotten. Her gaze rested on the trees just beyond the edge of her garden, watching with dreamlike expression on her face, waiting for something others doubted would ever come.

Walk In The Woods. Top Story - March 2024.
I don't bring a compass or a map when I venture into the woods. I just walk, and walk, and walk. Maybe I'll wind my way around to the next house over, the garden now overgrown and the occupant now far away. There'll be no friendly hello or offer of tea if I step out there anymore.

When There Is No Path To Tread
I walked out of my door just before dawn. This far off the main roads, the plows were unlikely to reach us for hours, if they even got to us today at all, and the neighbours wouldn't be up trying to dig out their cars and stoops for a little bit yet either. The world seemed to be at peace in stark contrast to the howling wind and blowing snow we'd had the night before. Everything was coated in a white blanket, glinting in the rising sun's light, with no evidence of any roads or paths to lead anywhere or towards anything.

The B&B Bear
I haven't always lived at this Bed & Breakfast. Once upon a time, I traveled with a young child, rarely leaving their side. A beloved teddy bear to keep them company, both at home and away. I came here with them on a vacation ten years ago, but unfortunately, I didn't leave with them. Left behind on one of the tea tables on the porch, I was found by one of the housekeepers hours after my child friend had left.

The Cracked Teacup
It's time for the first Author Avengers piece of the year! This month's prompt was selected by Author Avengers founder, Lou Yardley: A broken teacup, carefully mended with gold, becomes a symbol of resilience and hope. Due to some time and energy constraints this month, I opted for some free verse poetry over a prose piece.

2024: Putting Myself Out There and Clearing My Plate
Happy New Year! 2023 is now behind us, and I canโt help but say โgood riddanceโ. It was a rough year for me, and I know Iโm not the only one who felt that way. Mentally, emotionally, financially, and creatively 2023 felt like the year I hit several new low points. Iโm all too happy to close that book and look toward 2024 with more motivation and optimism (especially after finally taking a proper and much-needed vacation last month).
