The mystery behind Maria
That day, Maria was packing and getting ready for school after two months off. Since it was only her first day of school, she chose her fuschia pink sling purse and retrieved her bottled container of fresh orange juice that her older brother had made. Maria was thirteen years old. She isn't very thrilled about starting high school because she still misses her elementary school lunches, which consisted of steamed chicken wings, baked potatoes, and toasted bread from her father. After school, her father used to pick her up. However, attending a high school is not the same. Her brother is an intern at an aviation business, and her father is an electrician who works long hours and only returns home every fifteen days. A year ago, her mother succumbed to leukemia. Then she told herself to take a stand. She enters the freeway and waits for a taxi. She arrived at the school at exactly 7:30. She had no idea how her life worked in this type of school when she walked through the gate and took in her surroundings. She was enrolled in a private school, which was a high-class institution in their city despite its rather dated buildings. She noticed a woman sitting in a white pink bench near the molave trees in the school's garden. The woman was wearing a white dress with a brown coat and a book next to her. The woman smiled at her, and Maria impulsively moved in the direction of the woman.
