I have always loved writing since a young age and have always had the desire to fulfill my dream of writing a novel (or two). I am currently in the midst of doing just that.

The Beauty of the Sun
She could hear the squealing and screeching of the metal, as the train jerked slowly to a crawl. Her mother and she had been in such a tight embrace, it felt as though their bodies had grown together as one. Back at the train station where they boarded, hordes of people had been gathered and then separated, including the two of them from her father. Helen had cried in fear for nearly half of the train ride once they had boarded. She had no idea, that there, it would be the last time she would see him alive. The night before, they had been sitting together around the dinner table eating as a family. Tonight was a horrible mystery. She wanted to wake up from this nightmare.

The Tug and Pull of a Lifetime
Becca, who had been waiting for this day to come for months, jumped up even before her alarm sounded. She glanced outside of her cottage and could hear the owls in the trees wooing as though it was still night, though dawn was soon approaching. 5:30 was super early and not a usual time for her to rise up, but today was special. Today she would be spending her time on a boat, the whole day. She didn't care if anything was caught or not, she just loved the ocean. She joked with herself,

Handed A Slice of Life
Elisa, smiled as she positioned herself at the end of the dinner table. Tonight was the end to her singleness. Hearing the laughter as others had already sat down enjoying the festivities, she glanced at the man, who tomorrow, she would call husband. She caught his eye as he leaned in to touch his forehead with hers, he grinned. A brief chill ran down her spine. She thought to herself, "please, don't get cold feet now" and forced a smile back, looking down avoiding his eyes.

All That Remained
The locals called it an eye sore, but she recalled it as so much more. As Eve was sitting in the back of the taxi, she sat lost and pained in her attempts to remember. Shaken out of her useless thoughts, she could hear the driver ask if this was the place and hearing herself feebly tell him yes, asking if he could wait. She heard his huff and a growled yes. It had been so long, but there it was in the distance, so close.

Aftermath
To hear the crunch under her stumbling footsteps echo through the fallen buildings from the explosions that occurred just months before gave her a shudder. Her hiding was the result of waiting for the fallout to settle. She was tired and hurt from nursing the wounded and was ready to find her family. The explosions had displaced so many people, including herself. She now needed to find those closest to her. She could only hope they would still be alive. Were they displaced as she was, or worse? Finding them was all she could think about, or at least… it.
