Deborah Robinson
Bio
I'm new to the 'writing for real' scene. Previously, I've kept my poetry and writing under wraps in a fancy notebook, but now I've decided to give it a proper go!
I hope you enjoy my work.
Thanks, Deborah.

5 Things to Not Say to a Vegan!
The Vegan 'movement' has taken off at an enormous rate in recent years, and with celebrities everywhere promoting the cause, (think Joaquin, Di Caprio and Pamela Anderson to name but a few) more and more of us are ditching dairy, saying ''meh'' to meat, and ''see-ya'' to sushi.

The devil has a pretty face.
''Did you know that the calories don't count if you eat the cake really quickly?'' I smiled as I wolfed down the deliciously rich chocolate cake I had just purchased with my coffee. After a morning spinning class, I thought I deserved a little indulgence.

Hide away.
Image by pasja100 at Pixabay I could hear their thundering footsteps and laboured breathing coming closer and closer. ''Come on, little fox. You know we'll catch you. And when we catch you, we will hurt you. If you stop and come quietly, we won't hurt you. We promise.''

Keep your distance!
When the government announced we could no longer sit with, hug, shake hands or socialise with people outside of our 'bubble', I was at first dismayed and a bit devastated. I had made going for coffee, meeting up with friends, and helping out at church a regular part of my week.

Just draw!
I love life. I really do. And you know, I honestly believe that I am 'living the dream'. I have a fab husband, a lovely, slightly crazy (in a good way) daughter, a sweet and silly rescue greyhound. I work from home, doing one-to-one tuition lessons with kids who need a confidence boost, mostly, and I get to make a little bit of money from my lifelong passion. I draw. And I draw for health, for enjoyment and because it actually has brought so much joy to a lot of people.

Why I Love Coffee Culture
I do love caffeine! Like many over 40s with kids and a packed week, I rely quite heavily on caffeine to perk me up and get me through the 'joys' of domestic life. Let's be honest, making packed lunches, pairing socks, and doing homework with a reluctant seven year old isn't exactly what dreams are made of, but there's no point in kicking and sulking (no-one would even notice, anyway), so you either reach for the bottle, or you grab a coffee! (Or two, or three...)

A tribute to the works of Seamus Heaney.
I hated poetry as a youngster, and even more so, when I was a school girl, because my old-fashioned Grammar School English teacher made it so boring and inaccessible. I avoided poetry at all costs at university, until I couldn't any more, and then I actually found myself loving 'abstract poetry' of all things. (Check out the works of Wallace Stevens. Loved them!)
