Gothic Story Winners!
Last month, I created one of my own unofficial contests here on Vocal. The 'Gothic Stories' challenge garnered quite a few entries. Reading them all was a real pleasure, not least because I got to read stories from a few "new" writers I hadn't been exposed to. All the submissions were good, and picking the winners wasn't easy. Thank you so much to everyone who left me a story to read! I truly appreciate you getting involved and making this one of my happiest experiences on this platform.

DEAR SOULMATE.. Content Warning.
I’ve loved multiple people in this life and written poems of adoration a couple of times. But I figured I haven’t written a letter — a genuine, more than a paragraph long of words that encapsulate how my heart feels in readable characters. This will be my first love letter. First times. Although for the fact that we’re not each other’s firsts, were always particular about doing things together the first time. … Out of my several hopeless romantic attempts of immortalizing men I adored (for a moment) through poems and elusive words, I realized I haven’t written a real-real-realest, genuine- most genuine love letter yet (emphasis on YET). I thought I had though. But if long paragraphs of breakup messages are counted, I wouldn’t be writing this article. But now, I wonder what must it feel like to fall in love so purely you write them a letter? Letters, at least for me, are a BIG DEAL I’LL MARRY YOU NOW type of adoration. If I receive one, I’d buy myself the ring and chain and drag the person who sent it for us to sign up for a marriage license application (jk but not jk). Exaggeration aside, I finished one beautiful letter and sealed it with a kiss.

Bleeding Tired: Reflections on "A Story Every Day" So Far (May Edition)
The Nuts & Bolts As of the last day in May: we were 152 days in to the yearlong Story Every Day challenge, which started on 1st January. Nearly half way there! Success! I've posted a short story every day this year so far. My word count for May: 14,413. This included all my micros, sans the authors note, my look back at April, a poem, and a couple of challenge entries (one official, and one unofficial). Stats: My monthly peak at my stats shows that my read count has dropped more, it's now two thirds what it was a few months back. I haven't had much time to share on social media. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. It does seem to make a bit of a difference. The quality of content/ideas might have dropped, or people might be officially sick of me. (I mean. come on, every day!) It doesn't affect my plan to post daily (even if not a single soul sets eyes on it). I'll just keep an eye on quality. Reads: Speaking of reads, I now have over 10k! My most-read , most-liked story in May was story #148, The Write Equipment, which was an alle-gory for writing (ha, didja see what I did there?) I recently re-worked it for the 3am challenge. Top Stories: Three yet again this month! There's NO WAY this is a coincidence. Here they are: #148 The Write Equipment, Just a Minute challenge entry Dying Later, and #139, Forced Compliance Not Necessary.
