In a world of NFTs, fake news, and quarantine mind melt, it is difficult to know what is real. As I reflect back on the few strange in-door months of 2021, I wish I could have done something real to honor the women in my life during International Women's Month. I particularly fell short celebrating the incredible Black women that I know. Some of these women I have worked for, some of them have been colleagues, others lovers and still more friends. All of them have been my teachers and all of them lift my experience on this planet.

Short Film Reviews: Women's History Month. Top Story - March 2021.
Since #MeToo went viral in 2017 (eleven years after activist Tarana Burke founded the movement), it can't be denied that it brought massive changes to the entertainment industry and society as a whole. Serial sex predators were exposed, abuses of power against women were brought to light, and a culture of sexism that was once tolerated and accepted was called out for what it was. And while there's still plenty of work to be done, society has definitely made great strides toward gender equality in the past years. So in celebration of Women's History Month, I'll be taking a look at a few short films created by female filmmakers. With an evenly split selection of films from Short of the Week and Omeleto (my go-to sources for short films), let's begin!

Movie Review: 'Burn it All'
“Why are you so angry?” “Calm down” “Why are women are so emotional?” These are just a few of the trigger phrases for women that have persisted through the years. Insecure and clueless members of the male gender have used these phrases to deflect the feelings of women since time immemorial. The new action-suspense thriller, Burn it All uses the tropes of the thriller genre to show a woman who is just over it. She’s over the patriarchy, she’s over being talked down to, and she’s just over the misogyny of men in general.

8 movies about strong women and female empowerment. Top Story - November 2020.
Professional success and prestige are often related to men. When it comes to cinema, the same isrepeated, that is, we see many narratives extolling male achievements and few films about strong women with female protagonism. However, there are stories that show another vision and serve as inspiration for the female audience.

A Dying Male Paradigm of ‘Money, Career, Sex’…
In life, we play certain roles without even being aware of it, as they have become such an integral part of our Self. Some of these roles we have assigned to ourselves by ourselves but some have been adopted by us or even imposed on us. We, as individuals, have a free will to choose a certain role or not. Even the imposed or forced one.
