Two networks are airing specials about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on the same night.

It is not unusual for two networks to air specials surrounding the same topics. What is unusual is that ABC and Fox are airing specials on the same night about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's stepping away from being senior members of the royal family and their move to become more independent.

On January 8, 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan made a combined decision to step away from their royal duties and split their time living in the United Kingdom and North America. They are now living in Canada with their 8-month old son, Archie. They thought they would escape criticisms by moving from the UK, but they are still being criticized while living in Canada.

Both specials will provide some answers to questions and speculations the public still has about Prince Harry and his family and plans for their future.

Fox and ABC will air their specials on Wednesday, January 29, 2020. It is good the programs will not come on at the same time. That way people will have the opportunity to watch both specials.

Special on Fox

Fox will air its special during primetime on Wednesday, January 29 from 8 to 9 PM. Harry & Meghan: The Royals in Crisis will be the same length as the special on ABC. Information in the special is the result of an investigation conducted by TMZ.

The goal of the Fox's special is to "cut through the noise, inaccuracies and speculation surrounding the couple’s surprise announcement.” Several people with ties to Prince Harry and Meghan will be interviewed to share what they know about the couple's transition and why Prince Harry said, "There was no other option."

Special on ABC

Royal Divide: Harry, Meghan, and the Crown is a primetime special that will air on ABC on Wednesday, January 29 from 10 to 11 PM. The one-hour special will be hosted by ABC correspondent Deborah Roberts. The program features various interview clips, according to its trailer.

The network is airing the special to fill in some of the gaps that are still puzzling royal watchers. Perhaps the special will set the record right about several speculations the public still has. One of the main focuses will be to dispel the notion that Meghan Markle is the reason for the split.

The special will also correct some misinformation that is spreading. For instance, the couple remains the Duke and Duchess of Sussex titles, but publications are referring to them as "the former Duke and Duchess of Sussex" which is incorrect. The titles that were taken from them are His Royal Highness and Her Royal Highness (HRH) because they no longer represent Queen Elizabeth.

The special will include interviews with Prince Harry's friends who speak on his behalf. ABC News royalty consultant and officer of arms to Queen Elizabeth will also be interviewed.

What Royal Fans Still Want to Know

Royal fans are divided about the Sussexes' transition. Some are complimenting the couple for what they have done. They say they had no other choice after constant scrutiny from the public and from the media. Those people say "enough is enough" and they are happy for the young couple.

On the other hand, there are some who think it’s an insult to the royal family and especially to Queen Elizabeth. They accuse Prince Harry of being insensitive to his grandmother in spite of all the good things she has done for him. They also accuse the couple of turning their backs on the monarchy. Some of those people say the couple has not been married long enough to give their situation ample time to get better.

Some critics believe Prince Harry and Meghan's exit was a disgrace. The door has not been closed completely on their return if they choose to do so. However, it would be even more disgraceful if things don't go as they had planned and they will have to return to their previous lives.

Watch both specials on Wednesday, January 29 on Fox at 8 PM and on ABC at 10 PM.
