2021 Shaping Up To Be 2020 Repeat

Two weeks is quickly becoming two years it seems

By Susana ShadowsPublished 4 years ago 2 min read

The world welcomed in the New Year 2021 with open arms just a few days ago. I mean, it was a safe bet that no matter who you are or where you live everyone was DONE with 2020.

Every one of us went into the holiday season knowing that it was going to be very different for us all. I don't know how your state handled things, but... I do know that every other day we were being warned by our governor what and what not to do.

Mostly what, not to-dos. You know the drills, we have been listening to them for nearly a year now. What started out as two tiny weeks of discomfort and change quickly became 10 months.

So I feel I am safe in saying that it was unanimous that we all just wanted 2020 to go the hell away and take Covid with them. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it appears that 2021 is going to get deep into the year before we may possibly get back to anywhere close to living our pre-2020 lives.

According to all the virus experts, economists, and government officials 2021 is going to be every bit as tough and trying, if not more than last year.

WE will still wear masks, social distance, work from when we can. Avoid doing anything in public that can be done from home or by car. We will still need to keep our bubbles small, meaning stay away from everyone basically.

Great, thanks for that, just what we all really wanted to hear. NOT! I know I am not the only one that is so over the corona plague. It seriously breaks my heart to think about all the death and doom and gloom that Covid brought to the world.

I am sad that high school students have lost so many memories and will continue to lose more. Sports seasons canceled, proms, and even graduation ceremonies.

I am heartbroken that all of our elderly family members are sitting in lockdown, scared to death, and lonely. I am so the definition of a homebody, but even for me enough is enough.

Covid-19 has cost everyone so much. Now I'm not one to get all political, and I certainly do not want to start any arguments. I am not a dedicated Republican, or Democrat. I simply want to vote, the best person in, that will do the best job for each and every one of us.

I have no problems helping others out, but and I mean this is a big BUT, shouldn't we take care of all our own issues at home first, and then and only then after we have got all of our collective shit together help out others?

Just saying. I am not an authority on politics and would never claim to be even close. It just makes sense to me as a person that this is how it would work. But...What do I know?

What I know is that we can't keep going on like we are. Something needs to be done. People cannot take much more stress from job loss, lockdowns, next to nothing in stimulus aid, and just living in plain fear.

2021...Could you please just cooperate? The world would love to look back on the year 2021 and think of it with fondness. All in favor say I! Oh yeah, I forgot that doesn't seem to be working out so great huh?
