In the quiet of the night
When all the world is still
I lie awake and think of you
And the emptiness I feel
Memories of you haunt me
Like ghost in my mind
I try to fill the void
But it's impossible to find
The laughter that once filled my days
Now echoes in my mind
A constant reminder of what was
And what I've left behind
I reach out for you in the darkness
But all I find is air
The love we had is gone
And with it, my reason to care
The tears fall like rain
As I mourn what we had
But in the morning they'll be gone
And I'll be left with the sad
The memories will always be there
Reminding me of what is lost
And though I'll move on in time
The pain at any cost.
