Worn to Fit

To the person who wants to wear my heart on your sleeve,

I need you to know something about me,

I need you to know that my heart has been worn,

A few different times,

from different guys,

stretched me to fit their size,

I gave them my all, but it never fit right,

It would be a lie if I told you I was shiny and new,

That I haven't sewn myself back together with thread and glue,

That you can't see the snags in my fabric,

That my heart remains fully intact,

As if had never been used before,

As if I had been sitting in a drawer waiting for you,

But I haven't,

My heart has been worn in to find the body I want,

Not just the body who has been easily sought,

I have a thrifted soul,

More to me than a first purchase can know,

I have stories behind my threads,

Washed out from the original colors,

Not considered just another,

Person to make you feel as if everything fits right,

I have learned, that is the truth within the lie,

I will not be that person where everything makes sense,

That wearing me on your sleeve makes your life seem easy,

But I could be that fabric that enhances your comfort,

Embracing your skin just like your favorite shirt,

Someone that grows on you,

Even though it's been used,

I am here,

I am a make of my own design,

Soft, stretched, and sewn,

More beautiful than I have ever known,

Yes, I have been worn,

but not broken or forever torn,

Comfortable and soft for the right fit,

A heart full of love for the person who will receives it.
