Words written on a page.
It freed from the burden of bottling it all up inside.
It was sometimes a journal
Sometimes, a poem,
We were one,
I always felt most myself
When I wrote it,
No one could take it away,
There were words always on my heart
And mind.
At times, it saved my life,
It was a trusted friend,
The therapist,
The melodies, the notes, the love songs,
The dreams,
The goals,
The other emotions than acceptable niceness and perfectionism expected of me,
It was at times
Rage, frustration, relief, happiness,
It was planned,
It was an accomplishment,
Excitement,
It still is all that and then some.
The words just always seem to flow better on paper
Then, from my lips,
I was grateful,
That I had this,
The words are always here,
Sometimes more than others,
Sometimes, it’s a flow state,
I cannot stop at the library while writing out my heart; I just have to let it be on paper.
It’s the writing from prompts; it’s the way it makes me feel enough
In a world where I often feel like I’m not doing, being, or living sufficiently,
I never have expectations with it,
I just write,
And I just love it.
