Voiceless One

A poem inspired by an unusual dream

Filtered through the eyes of a child, looking so lost and beguiled. Lost and somehow found, no one is looking or hears him making a sound.

A mind full of years of wisdom, ignored by those who only hear a tiny voice speaking cynicism.

Moving through isles, words unheard for miles. Seeing familiar faces, though they look right through him to empty spaces.

A child’s voice with sincere words, demanding to be seen and heard. It is drowned out by others and instead becomes smothered.

The voiceless child has no voice, only in his waking hours does he have a choice.
