Timebomb

Amazing

It amazes me how I keep on ticking on

in the usual way when I know

that my terrorist heart is building a nail bomb

ready to slash up my life

scar everyone I know

tumble down other people's edifaces

not advance my cause at all

refuse to participate in peace talks

and go on hunger strike.

It amazes me that I continue

to smile politely at strangers

listen carefully to people's problems

make jokes with my colleagues

chitchat at bus stops with innocent bystanders

reply to everyone's messages

all while being absolutely furious

that they're all not you.

Come back.

The best thing you can give to your loved ones is time.

Deeply feeling! This is very good and very poignant. The list of the hearts “crimes” was so well written

Oh that awful feeling...like the world should really stop moving when we are unhappy. Why does everyone keep smiling and making me even sadder. I so get this poem. I wish I had the invisibility cloak.

  • "Furious that they're all not you". I felt that line so deeply in my bones! Loved your poem!
