A Poem

I was told time

Would dry my tears

And the seasons changing

Would fill out my years

I was told you

Would be nearby

As long as we slept

Under the same sky

But time came and went and

Seasons still change,

Spring brought the rain

And the summers scorched on

Years went on and

I held on...

And nobody told me

I’d be lonely

Through it all and

How I’d feel the empty

Seats on the day

Of my wedding…

I was told time

Would dry my tears

And the seasons changing

Would fill out my years

No one said time

Would bring on my fear

That it meant one day you’d

No longer be here…
