The Silent Storm

A Poem for the Strong One Watching Their Loved One Slip Away

By Tamseela FarooqPublished about a year ago 1 min read

He stands there, watching her fade,
As her breaths grow shorter by the day.
He can't believe his eyes, can't believe it's true,
That the one he loves is slipping away too soon.

He's the backbone of his family, the one they rely on,
But inside, he's shattering, falling apart at the seams.
He cries alone, in the quiet of the night,
But in front of everyone, he has to stay strong and fight.

He wants to hold her, to keep her safe,
To make everything right, to make her stay.
But he can't, he knows it, he feels it in his soul,
And it's tearing him apart, making him feel so alone.

He knows he has to be there for his family,
To be their rock, to be their stability.
But it's hard, so hard, when he's breaking inside,
When he wants to scream, to run, to hide.

So he stands there, in the silent storm,
Watching her go, his heart torn.
But he'll stay strong, for her, for them,
Even when everything feels like it's coming to an end.

For in the midst of the pain and the sorrow,
He knows that love will still be there tomorrow.
And though she may be gone, he'll hold her in his heart,
And keep her memory alive, even when they're apart.
