A nature poem

Consider the raindrop, consider its insignificance.

Too little itself to sustain life, to nourish a tree or a bird.

It falls from the sky, a gift from the heavens,

It slides down a branch to the tip of a leaf,

It hangs suspended for a brief moment,

Awaiting the momentum to continue.

It trickles down one leaf to another,

Until it reaches the warm earth

And leaves a faint wet mark on the soil

Before it is absorbed, dissolved.

Together with its siblings, the raindrop constitutes rain.

It falls from the sky, a gift from the heavens,

In a downpour it rushes towards the earth

To bestow water upon the thirst of the world.

It plummets between branches, soaking the trees,

It bathes the animals and feeds the rivers and seas.

Consider the rain, consider its significance.

Without it, no life, no breath, no existence.
