The Pain of Goodbye

A Poem About the Heartbreak of Parting Ways

By Tamseela FarooqPublished about a year ago 1 min read

Love was once a flame that burned bright,
A passion that shone like stars in the night,
But now, it's a fire that's dwindled to ash,
A love that's lost, a dream that's turned to trash.

We started off strong, with a love that was pure,
A love that we thought would always endure,
But slowly and surely, it began to fade,
Until the love we knew was but a charade.

Our days became dull, our nights were long,
The love that we shared was no longer strong,
We tried to hold on, to rekindle the flame,
But the love that we knew was never the same.

We said our goodbyes, with tears in our eyes,
The pain that we felt was too much to disguise,
Our hearts were broken, our souls were shattered,
The love that we shared was all that mattered.

Now, we walk separate paths, with memories in tow,
The love that we shared, we'll never truly know,
We'll always wonder, what could have been,
If the love that we lost, we could have somehow redeemed.

But sometimes, love fades away, and it's time to move on,
To find a love that's true, a love that'll never be gone,
And though our hearts may ache, and our souls may be sore,
We'll find a love that'll be worth fighting for.
