The Old-World Charm of the Magnifying Glass

A novelty and oddment of past times

By Ryan BurkeyPublished 11 months ago 1 min read

Little round lens

Who enlarges and elongates fine print

Who reveals hidden scripts and hints

And enhances the sight of the beholder

How scholarly you look, sitting atop a desk

An object of sophistication and intellect

A novelty and oddment of past times

You still dazzle in modern day

Enhancing the aesthetic of any study or library you grace

You not only aggrandize text and clarify grainy parchment

You bestow worth and grandeur on those who wield you

For a petite, dainty looking glass

You, my friend, warrant high praise
