The Curse of Contradictions

… an unbuilt fault.

By Tim GracePublished 4 months ago 1 min read

As golden as our gait might seem

we cannot run much faster.

The more we pace at rates extreme

the closer steps disaster.

.

As brightly as our stars might shine

(be they cast upon a silver screen

or raised as part of night's design)

both, in time, become routine.

.

As noble as we paint our cause

(with pleasant posture and good poise)

if placed upon a canvas full of flaws

then as ticking-bomb it self-destroys.

.

As often as not our pledged convictions

meet the inbuilt curse of contradictions.

.

About the Creator

Tim Grace

A first impression has a lasting effect - it makes a notable difference. In a subtle way that’s who I am as a poet. A ‘first impression’ looking for the gentle ‘twist’ that draws attention to a novel observation.
