The Big Death

A poem about dying at a rave

I'll die upright,

On this couch,

At the back of the room,

Watching the group

Undulate like waves.

I'll die dazed and drugged

Upright on the couch.

.

I'll die with my phone open

To something scandalous.

Pornographic.

I'll die with headphones on,

Blasting the same song

I've had on repeat for

Seven years.

.

A little death

Followed by a big one.

One million little deaths,

Actually,

Cobbled together

To make one big problem,

One Big Death.

.

Maybe I'll be sad about it

But more than likely

I'll be too blissed out

To register it's even happened.

And I'll leave that little sadness

Of the Big Death

To someone else.

Incredible use of detail! You’ve painted a vivid scene, a very tragic one.

Oh man. I have wandered to this place before. I barely recalled until I read this. Instantaneous emotion. Bravo my dear Silverado.
