The Agony of a Sunbeam

Free Will

By C. Rommial ButlerPublished 3 months ago 1 min read
The Self-Immolation of Thich Quang Duc

A broken heart

Falls apart.

A shattered dream

Cannot redeem

The silent scream…

<>

Shifting in the darkness,

Slithering away.

Fleeting premonition,

Fading into gray.

Did you ever wonder

What the sun would say

If it could remember

Dawning yesterday?

<>

Can you hear the silent scream

Of the starshine’s shattered dream?

Can we possibly redeem

The agony of a sunbeam?

Will My Heart Survive the Fire?

The poem above is a rumination on solar consciousness.

To go through Hell to get to Heaven we must first enter Hell. Are we to suppose all its inhabitants eternally damned? Stories of brave souls and pure hearts voluntarily entering the underworld abound in the mythologies of all cultures.

Martydom, a passive act of valor, but who saves the sacrifice?

I so get where you're coming from. It's kind of like the sun must be smothered out before it can truly shine. Excellent work Charles!
