Summer Sonnet I
Future thoughts of summers past written for the present . . .

Snows of winter melt always into spring,
Income tax returns in C-R-A hands.
First a crow arrives, then a robin sings
In harmony with farmers sewing land.
Soon Bar-B-Q aromas fill the air.
We be ready for longer days to come,
Browner tones appear on skin once so fair,
Lazy days at beaches with pets and chums.
Cracks of bats and sounds of carnival rides,
Add spice to sound-tracks of our August days.
“Back to School” brings thoughts of life inside.
Cousins in basement rooms end summer stays.
Another summer in the books it seems,
Leaving mem’ries to fill our winter dreams.
