Rulers of the Sky

They Conquered the Skies

By Mercedes ChavezPublished 2 months ago 1 min read
Artist Unknown

From the moment they took flight

They soared into what must have looked like the heavens to them

Magnificent creatures who could see above all else

Feeling untouchable

Almost God like

They could go over any mountain

Soar over any ocean, just barely letting their wings graze the water

Diving down and capturing their prey

Like a shadow suddenly emerging from the skies

Beasts to be feared by creatures who lack the ability to soar freely

To have such freedom

To take flight and be carried by the wind

And in the blink of an eye

That freedom was taken away

The Gods sent down their fury

Flames fell from the heavens

Those of the sky and those of the ground

Left as nothing but ash

But in their time

The Pterodactyl was the Ruler of the Skies
