Our summer sun was joined
By a raining cloud,
A light mist dancing
Over sun warmed skin
As nature continued its course,
Growing in time,
Following the rules set in motion
By axis rotation,
Parents present in guiding forth
The fledglings just learning
The importance of natural world,
Feeling soil beneath fingernail
Dried salt upon burning skin
And dew seeping into souls-
A growth earned from days
Upon frozen earth
Where headway was questioned
And stems were tested,
Where storms blew in
Beautiful and violent-
Shining sun chases away
Thoughts of snowstorms
And blinds the eye
To the terror of the hurricanes
That wait just on the outskirts
Of land’s edge,
Where Gods feud
And Mother shoots for peace-
Knowing growth is stagnant
In times of unrest-
But Poseidon waits gripping trident
Eager to rage,
To send tsunamis
And awaken beasts in the depth
To remind the souls of the land
Of the power of the ocean
They gaze upon with lustful eyes,
A force to be reckoned with,
A mystery best left
Undisturbed by the hands of
Mere humans.
Poseidon waits
For the first foot
Of summer to enter his depths,
Peace or war,
Only Gods know.

Just another day at the beach--with every possible variation, awe-inspiring, fearfully & wonderfully shaped in its execution.
