Plight of the Clown

A Poem

By Dr Joel LaNaceyPublished 6 years ago 1 min read

This world, by far, tastes the best;

it's filled with purpose of togetherness,

but do not forget yours is to rest.

Amusement: no more, no less.

These happy couples are building lives.

Did you think you told the joke

so others could feel alive?

I think it's time you awoke.

Didn't that bright light

feel so swell

when it soared like a kite

into your ignored Hell?

Life and structure are for the other ones.

Alas, you made Dionysus' list.

Yours is the world of end-time joy and dying suns,

for you are merely the exhibitionist.
