Playful

A poem by Kathryn Willis

By Kathryn WillisPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

Something about me,

Poetry -

Inspires the hues

Of creativity.

Color expresses my feeling,

My mood, and my ability.

Noticing my eyes,

The deep of the ocean blue -

The thoughtful introspective

Colors between me and you.

My aura I can see,

Has tints of white and gold.

I feel the lightness of my being

And the gravity that it holds.

The grains of my hair,

Like the sun on a summer day, playing.

The beautiful yellow barley stalks

In the wind are swaying.

The royal purple of my dress

Is meant for my love to be expressed -

And the rose-colored glasses

Through which I see

Show bliss and innocence

Intertwined in me.

As I walk through grass

On this bright green earth,

I can feel the heat

Infuse my bones like a hearth.

The coolness of the sand, inviting

As I walk along the garden sighting

The orange of the orange tree,

Bearing the fruit of possibility.

And as I make my way along,

I hear the blackbird and his song.

The red of bricks that built my home

Help me feel not so alone.

And in the dark black of the night

Instead of all my fears incite,

Brings me tranquil, calming peace

As I fall to sleep with ease.
