On Such a Winter

A Poem

By bethany alicePublished 6 years ago 1 min read

Tea sips tremble widely to the stomach

I taste lemon, I taste scarlet

Arizona has a place for us

I was told the future is there

Inside small windows and a flat roof

500 sq feet of cat hair

We will drag with us

Kicking and screaming

I’ll set the kettle down at the counter there

And arrange the bookends

Do you remember how Montana turned on us?

How North Dakota spat us out?

New York slapped us silly?

Let’s grab each other as the floor falls into hell

And sprint towards the desert fair

surreal poetry
