Title pulled from a traditional Scottish song 'The Parting Glass'.
I have sat on this for far too long and don't think I have it in me to bring it to a point where I am happy with it, so here it goes. Constantly have to remind myself that one of the most important part of 'writing' is abandonment, is letting go. Only way I can change something is by writing more.

As I've said before, I'm always hungry but don't want to eat. Don't really want the pain relievers or alcohol, either. Just want to sleep.
So much said between the lines. He eats less and less as the months go on, drinks more, misses home more...hangovers galore. Wow. A truly heart-wrenching piece, and I think my favorite part (aside from seeing those postage stamps throughout) is the implications of friends cooking him meals (thank you cards). I love this.
Beans, vodka, brownie bites. That quite a meal. Lol. This was good at the transition through the months. Well done..
